What MLB Teams Have Never Won A World Series?

The World Series Has Been Going On For 120 Years, And These Teams Have Never Won It!

The first World Series event was held in 1903.

It is the final competition of the MLB (major league baseball) in which the winner of the AL (American League) plays the winner of the NL (National League) for the trophy and the World Champions title.

The World Series is the most sought-after trophy in world baseball. While some teams have won it multiple times – the Yankees have won it 27 times! – there are six teams that haven’t won it a single time.

Today, we are going to take a look at who those teams are.

Here are the 6 MLB teams that have never won a World Series.

Milwaukee Brewers (1969)

The Milwaukee Brewers are the oldest team in the MLB never to win a World Series. But the situation for the Brewers is direr than it appears.

The Brewers have only made it to the World Series Finals once in the last 53 years, and this was in 1982 when they took on the Cardinals and lost in the breathtaking seven-game series.

In 2021, they did top the National League Central Division for the third time in their history and for the third time in 10 years.

While their history has been relatively empty of trophies, things have been looking up for the Brewers in the last five years; they have made it into the playoffs for the previous four years.

San Diego Padres (1969)

Two teams debuted in 1969 that have never won the World Series, and that second team is the San Diego Padres.

The Padres are the only Californian team without a World Series. The Padres have won the NL pennant twice in their history – once in 1984 (when the Cubs beat them) and 1998 (when the Braces beat them).

The team has only won its division 5 times in its history, 1984, 1996, 1998, 2005, and 2006. In 2020 they made it into the wild card berth for the first time.

Texas Rangers (1972)

Next on this list is the Texas Rangers, who joined the MLB in 1972 and have not won a World Series.

The Rangers won the American League pennants twice in a row in 2010 and 2011, and they lost to Saint Louis in 2010 and the Giants in 2011. However, they have not repeated this since.

Most recently, they won their division – the Western American League division – in 2015 and 2016. They have only had one wild card playoff in their history, in 2012.

Last season they came last in their division. However, they are having a slightly better season this year. However, they are unlikely to qualify for the playoffs in any form in 2022.

The Marinas and the Astros are still on track to top the Western division of the American League this season.

Seattle Mariners (1977)

The Seattle Mariners are the third oldest team in the MLB to have never won a World Series.

The Mariners have had a tough time in the MLB since they were founded. They have never won their league and only won their division – American League West Division – three times (19959, 1997, 2001).

They have only had a wild card berth into the playoff off once, which was in 2000.

We’re not saying the Mariners are a lousy team. They have some of the best players in the league. But they have one of the most disappointing post-season records in American sports.

Remember 2001, when they won 116 games in one season and then lost in the first round of the playoffs.

They could be in with a chance of changing all that this year.

Colorado Rockies (1993)

The Rockies have only been around for 30 years and have a better record than some of the other teams on this list.

They have made it into the playoffs six times since their formation and, in 2007, won the National League pennant. This is a pretty good record for a team that has never won a World Series. However, they are yet to win their division – they have come second five times.

In the World Series Finals they played in, they lost to the Boston Red Sox in four games.

Last year they came fifth overall in the National League and fourth in their division. They are currently not performing as well this season. The bookies now have the Rockies at +200,000 to win the World Series this year.

Tampa Bay Rays (1998)

We might forgive the Rays for being on this list because they are now the youngest team in the MLB.

But they are the joint youngest with the Arizona Diamondbacks, who did win the world series three years after they were founded.

However, in our humble opinion, the Rays have nothing to be ashamed of. They have won the American League twice – once in 2008 and once in 2020. They have also won their AL East Division four times – 2008, 2010, 2020, and 2021.

Along with the Marinas and the Red Sox, the Rays are on track to get a wild card berth this year if they don’t win their division.

Of all the teams on this list, we think that the Rays will be the first to win their first World Series.
